What is it?

Rail Operations professionals play important roles in day-to-day train operations, ensuring smooth travelling and safety of its commuters. These include but are not limited to duties such as crowd control, incident management, track protection, signal, and controlling of train services.

The Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for Rail Operations Professionals is a Place-and-Train programme offered by Public Transport Operator SBS Transit Rail Pte Ltd (SBSTR).

The CCP aims to train mid-career individuals and equip them with the necessary competencies to embark on a career in the Rail Industry as Station Managers, Assistant Station Managers or Customer Service Officers.

Station Managers, Assistant Station Managers and Customer Service Officers work on rotating shifts. The typical gross salary is between $2,100 and $3,400.


Who can apply?

To apply, you should

  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident;
  • Have graduated or completed National Service for at least 2 years;
  • Be in a new job role that is substantially different from previous job role(s)*, hence requiring reskilling for career conversion under the CCP;
  • Have no colour vision deficiency;
  • Be able to perform rotating shift duty, including weekends and public holidays; and
  • Be able to respond effectively to stressful or unpredictable situations

 

*CCPs are geared towards helping mid-career individuals acquire skills to change career paths. Hence, career conversion is required when mid-career individuals undergo the CCPs.

However, individuals who have a continuous employment gap of at least 2 years prior to CCP commencement will be allowed to apply for CCP job roles similar to their previous jobs.

How does it work?

Shortlisted candidates will be employed full-time by SBSTR and will undergo the CCP with a training duration of up to 5 months.

The Facilitated Classroom Training and On-the-Job Training (OJT) are conducted by experienced supervisors during the CCP. These will equip candidates with the knowledge and necessary skillsets to perform the job.
