Applications for the 2024 intake have closed. Please refer to ‘How does it work?’ below for the 2024 intake programme timeline.
Objectives of the Programme
WSG has partnered the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) and Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) to offer the Career Conversion Programme for Social Workers (CCP SW) to support mid-career individuals in acquiring knowledge and skills needed to become qualified Social Workers.
Eligible applicants must be selected by a participating employer in order to be selected for the Programme. With this arrangement, trainees can gain valuable experience while studying, and the practicum sessions will enable trainees to be effective in their respective fields upon graduation.
There are two part-time courses offered under CCP SW - Bachelor of Social Work and Graduate Diploma of Social Work.
Benefits and Opportunities
The CCP SW offers a myriad of opportunities as Social Workers and Medical Social Workers are highly sought after in organisations such as hospitals, family service centres, special education schools, youth centres and sheltered homes. Social workers perform various job roles beyond direct practice, for instance, administrative, management and policy planning roles. Social Workers also serve diverse profiles of people such as persons with disabilities, children, low-income households, persons with addictions and mental illnesses, as well as many others, making their job a challenging yet fulfilling one.
Newly graduated Social Workers can potentially draw a starting salary of approximately $3,790. For current salary guidelines for Social Workers, please refer to https://www.ncss.gov.sg/Social-Service-Careers/Sector-Salary-Guidelines/Salary-Guidelines. Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates may apply for accreditation with the Singapore Association of Social Workers.
