Built Environment: PCP for Lift Specialists
Reskill your competencies to take on new jobs
What is it?

The Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) for Lift Specialists aims to train mid-career Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMETs) with the necessary competencies to embark on a career in the Lift & Escalator industry. It is managed by the Singapore Lift & Escalator Contractors & Manufacturers Association (SLECMA) with funding support from Workforce Singapore (WSG).

About the Job and Career Progression

As Singapore’s Built Environment sector continues to transform, there will be more job opportunities for skilled engineers and technicians arising from growing demand for lift maintenance services due to the increasing number of lifts and ageing infrastructure in Singapore. Lift maintenance job roles are also transforming with greater use of technologies such as predictive maintenance and data analytics.

Lift Specialists will perform maintenance work of lifts independently while attending to reported incidents timely. They are equipped with knowledge and skills to replace basic lift components. Lift Specialists who attain relevant experience and skills may progress to Senior Lift Specialists and subsequently to Supervisory roles.

Programme Structure and Certification

To facilitate PMETs in their new careers as Lift Specialists, participants will undergo a 6-month structured programme comprising in-house classroom training and on-the-job training (OJT) by the PCP participating employers and external classroom training.

Training delivered under the PCP programme covers:
