What is it?

The Food Services Industry plays a vital role in Singapore’s economy. It not only augments Singapore’s value proposition as a tourism destination of choice, but also provides employment to 4.5% of the national workforce through approximately 7,000 establishments.

 

The Food Services industry has evolved, and many food service operators have adapted their business model. Food Services operators are adopting quick-service formats, online delivery services, cloud kitchens, and hybrid model with a combination of physical stores and cloud kitchens. As Food Services companies continue to innovate in their business models and automate their processes further in their transformation journey, career opportunities at various job levels have been significantly enhanced.

 

Under the Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for Food Services Industry, you will undergo skills conversion of up to 100% structured on-the-job training (OJT) while embarking on new, redesigned or emerging roles such as R&D Chef, Sustainability Lead, Loyalty Retention Specialist, Field Trainer, Data Analyst, Operations Manager, and Central Kitchen Director in the F&B industry.

 

Upon successful completion of the CCP, you will be equipped with the necessary skills to take on new or redesigned PMET job roles with good career prospect in the Food Services industry.


Who can apply?
Candidates under the programme must fulfil the following criteria:
  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Minimum 21 years old
  • Must not be a shareholder[1] of the company, or its related companies
  • Must not be related to the owner(s)[2] of the company
  • Must not be undergoing any programmes funded by WSG concurrently

 

For New Hires (Mid-Career Switchers) who are onboard the programme

  • New Hire must have graduated or completed National Service for at least 2 years[3] prior at the point of application
  • New Hire must not be immediate ex-staff of the participating company or its related entities
  • New Hire must not have prior working experience or been in a similar job role[4] in previous employment
  • New Hire who has been out of the labour force or have a continuous employment gap of at least 2 years[5] prior to CCP commencement will be allowed to apply for CCP job roles similar to their previous jobs
  • New Hire must be offered / in-full time position related to the job role which the CCP is for, and at least a 12-month employment contract
  • New Hire’s training commencement should be within the first three months of employment

 

Footnote:

[1] Does not apply to shareholders who hold publicly traded shares in listed companies

[2] Refers to individuals with shareholding per ACRA profile for non-publicly listed companies

[3] Counted from the date of graduation from the latest qualification, or date of completion of National Service, whichever is later

[4] Was from a different occupation in the F&B industry or same occupation but from a different sector

[5] The 2-year employment gap must be continuous and will exclude National Service during that period

 

All participating companies must fulfil the following criteria:
  • Registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Committed to work with WSG or its appointed partner on the necessary administrative matters related to the programme

 

For participating companies hiring New Hires (Mid-Career Switchers):

  • Impacted job roles (permanent positions only) should be paying a fixed monthly salary of least $2,700
  • Offer New hire a job redesigned / emerging role with a sound training plan that supports the growth of the company

Duration of Programme

New Hires (Mid-Career Switchers)

  • PMET: 3 to 6 months of structured on-the-job training (OJT)

OJT and classroom training plan (if any) have to be validated and endorsed by appointed Programme Partners before the commencement of Career Conversion Programme Training.

 

Salary support for the duration of training will be provided to employers at the following rates upon fulfilment of the corresponding requirements:

Up to 70% of monthly salary

capped at $4,000 per month

Up to 90% of monthly salary

capped at $6,000 per month

Minimum fixed monthly salary of $2,700 (PMET) onwards (starting salary commensurate with candidate’s experience)

*No Absentee Payroll (AP) claim is allowed for CCP trainees
