About the Sector
Information and Communications (I&C) is a key economic growth sector that creates quality jobs and opens up exciting new opportunities for citizens. According to the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA)’s Annual Survey on Infocomm Media Manpower 2020, the number of tech professionals employed across the economy grew by about 10,000 annually over the past few years, reaching around 216,000 in 2020. Demand will also extend beyond the sector into other sectors like finance, manufacturing, and retail.
Job Role Description (as per ICT Skills Framework)
- ServiceNow Developer
The ServiceNow Developer track maps to the Associate Applications Support Engineer role in the ICT Skills Framework (SFw). The Associate application Support Engineer is responsible for the providing support and ensuring the maintenance of specific software applications, which may be built in-house or third-party software. The individual should have a deep understanding of the application’s functionality and backend. The individual is responsible for providing the support to the application development, transition, and testing teams, resolve and document any issues with the application.
The individual will work in a team setting and is proficient in applications development and monitoring tools and techniques required by the organisation. The individual will also be familiar with the relevant software platforms on which the solutions are deployed.
The Associate Applications Support Engineer applies critical thinking skills to identify and solve problems The individual is passionate about analysing and resolving problems and addressing technical challenges and also possesses strong interpersonal skills.
2. ServiceNow System Administrator
The ServiceNow System Administrator tracks maps to the Associate Systems Support Engineer role in the ICT SFw. The Associate Systems Support Engineer performs routine systems administration related activities. The individual will ensure systems operate in a manner that meets business needs and that system improvements are successfully implemented. The individual will assist with implementing remedial actions in the event of system failures/breakdowns and to maximises service uptime, maintains system backups, manages service licensing and maintains security standards. The individual is required to be on standby with on-call availability with varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays to resolve systems related incidents.
The individual will work in a team setting and is proficient in infrastructure systems and network-related tools and techniques required by the organisation and is also familiar with the relevant platforms on which the database is deployed on.
The Associate Systems Support Engineer can quickly and effectively solve issues as they arise. The individual can methodically identify the cause of the issue, evaluate it and develop a solution in collaboration with the team and is able to communicate effectively and displays high service level standards.
About the Programme
The CCP for Information and Communications Technology is designed to equip mid-career Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMETs) to undergo skills conversion and take on enhanced roles in the ICT industry.
Under the CCP for Information and Communications Technology, the individual will undergo up to 100% of On-the-Job training (OJT), as well as optional structured classroom trainings (where applicable) to take on the role.
Training will be conducted over 3 – 6 months depending on modality. Upon successful completion of the CCP, the individual will be equipped with the necessary skills to embark on a career in an Information and Technology-related role.
