Accurate as of 12 Jul 2024
What is it?

CCPs are career conversion programmes targeted at mid-career Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMETs) to undergo reskilling and move into new or redesigned job roles with good prospects.

About the Sector

Information and Communications (I&C), encompassing Infocomm and Technology (ICT) and Media, is a key economic growth sector offering quality jobs and spearheading digitalisation across industries. According to the Singapore Digital Economy (SGDE) Report 2023, I&C sector accounts for around one third of Singapore’s digital economy, with the remaining two-thirds attributable to the value-added (VA) from digitalisation in the rest of the economy. A skilled workforce is essential for sustaining the growth of the digital economy, with IMDA’s Annual Survey on Infocomm Media Manpower reporting that the number of tech professionals had grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.9% per annum from around 165,860 professionals in 2018 to around 208,260 professionals in 2023. Further manpower growth is expected as more businesses transform due to digitalisation and rapid advances in tech, such as in quantum computing and AI.

About the Programme

The Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for Cloud Professionals is a Place-and-Train programme which requires prospective employers to first hire mid-career individuals before they undergo training. It is aimed at equipping mid-career individuals with the necessary skillsets to take on one of the following job roles recognised under the Infrastructure functional track in the Infocomm and Technology (ICT) Skills Framework (SFw) (as developed by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in conjunction with SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)):

  • Associate Infrastructure Engineer
  • Infrastructure Engineer
  • Infrastructure Engineering Manager

Under the CCP for Cloud Professionals, you will undergo up to 100% On-the-Job-Training (OJT), as well as optional structured facilitated trainings (i.e. courses / classroom trainings), across a 3 – 6 months duration. Upon successful completion of the CCP, you will be equipped with the necessary skillsets to embark on a career in the Information and Technology (ICT) job role.

The CCP for Cloud Professionals operates under 2 modalities:

  1. Place-and-Train: Company hires a mid-career individual and sends individual for industry-recognised training to take on a new job role
  2. Job Redesign Reskilling (JRR): Company sends existing mid-career employee, who is vulnerable or at-risk of redundancy or moving into a growth role, for industry-recognised training to take on a new or redesigned job role in the same company

For more information on the Technical Skills and Competencies (TSCs) you may acquire through the programme, refer to the ICT SFw found here.
