What is it?

In line with “30 by 30” vision to raise Singapore’s food production from 10% to 30% by 2030, the agri-food sector is being transformed into one that will be highly productive, enabled by technology. As a result, new jobs created will demand higher-level skills and competencies in areas such as science, info-comm technology, engineering and mathematics.

The Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for Agritech Operator is targeted at helping mid-career jobseekers reskill with the necessary competencies to embark on a career conversion into the agritech sector, which has exciting job opportunities such as Farm Technician and Operations Executive. Key job functions as an Agritech Operator may include, but are not limited to:

  • Cultivate vegetables to meet timely and quality output targets
  • Prepare nutrient and other supplies for cultivation
  • Prepare equipment and systems for operational needs
  • Inspect abnormalities to ensure quality of produce
  • Conduct post-harvest inspection
  • Filing of process records and quality check records

Republic Polytechnic (RP) is the Programme Manager of the three-month programme, which comprises of facilitated/classroom training by RP and structured on-the-job training (OJT).

Who can apply?

All participating companies must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Registered or incorporated in Singapore with a UEN registered with ACRA
  • Engaged in work in the Agritech sector, such as agriculture farms growing leafy and fruit vegetables and companies supporting the farms with system and technology solutions
  • Able to offer employment directly related to the job for which the CCP is for, with a minimum fixed monthly salary of $2,000 that is aligned with the market rate
  • Offer the new hire a full-time position employment contract on permanent terms or on contract terms that are no less than one (1) year
  • Willing to consider new hires who were not in a similar job role prior to joining the programme
  • Be committed to the CCP training arrangements and provide structured OJT training for the new hire
  • Be committed to work with WSG and RP on the necessary administrative matters related to the CCP


Candidates eligible for the programme must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Minimally 21 years old
  • Graduated or completed National Service for at least 2 years1 prior at the point of application
  • Possess basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • New job role should be substantially different from previous job role(s), hence require training for career conversion
  • Must not be a shareholder2 of the company, or its related companies
  • Must not be immediate ex-staff of the participating company or its related entities
  • Must not be related to the owner(s)3 of the company

2 Does not apply to shareholders who hold publicly traded shares in listed companies

3 Refers to individuals with shareholding per ACRA profile for non-publicly listed companies

How does it work?

Salary Support

Up to 70% of monthly salary, capped at $2,000/month

Up to 90% of monthly salary, capped at $3,000/month

For Singapore Citizens (SC) aged 40 and above and/or have been unemployed for 6 months or more.

Course Fee Support

Full Course Fee: $7,000 (excl. GST)

Up to 70% of the course fees (excl. GST), i.e. $4,900

Up to 90% of the course fees, i.e. $6,300

For SC / Singapore Permanent Resident trainees sponsored by SMEs or mature SC trainees aged 40 years old and above.
