What is it?

The Technology in Finance Immersion Programme (TFIP) is an industry Attach-and-Train Career Conversion Programme (CCP) that aims to build up an industry pipeline of capabilities in key technology areas to meet the talent needs of the Financial Services sector.

This is a full-time programme that provides mid-careerists the opportunity to attend industry-curated structured training, followed by attachment with leading financial institutions to gain on-the-job experience to pivot into a career in technology within the Financial Services sector.

Technology areas that are available under TFIP 2022 are:

  • Agile IT Project Management
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Business Analysis
  • Cloud Computing
  • Cybersecurity
  • Data Analytics
  • Software Engineering
  • Technology, Information and Cybersecurity Risk

The programme is managed by the Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF), with the support of Workforce Singapore (WSG), Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and participating financial institutions.


Who can apply?

The Programme is open to individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a Singapore Citizen (SC) or Permanent Resident (PR) aged 21 years and above;
  • Must have graduated or completed NS, whichever is later, at least two years at the point of application;
  • Possess a tertiary qualification (Diploma/Degree);
  • No prior work experience in any of the following areas: Agile IT Project Management, Artificial Intelligence, Business Analysis, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Software Engineering and Technology, Information and Cybersecurity Risk;
  • Must not be a shareholder* of the hosting financial institution, or its related companies;
  • Must not be related to the owner(s)^ of the hosting financial institution;
  • Must not be immediate ex-staff of hosting financial institution or its related companies; and
  • No outstanding sponsorship obligations.

  • Qualification / experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) or a Quantitative field; or
  • STEM-related courses or certifications.

Business Analysis

  • Qualification / experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM); or
  • STEM-related courses or certifications; or
  • Experience in Financial Services sector.

Agile IT Project Management

  • Qualification in any area.

Programme is estimated to commence in Q4 2022.

 

Application and Selection Process

Applicants can select up to 3 preferred financial institutions to apply to, but IBF reserves the right to forward the application to other participating financial institutions.

Eligible applicants will be invited for an aptitude assessment.

Applicants who pass the assessment and are shortlisted by the participating financial institution(s) will be invited for interview(s).

Successful applicants will be offered a traineeship by IBF and the hosting financial institution. They will undergo structured training (approximately 1 – 6 months) with industry-recognised training providers to attain foundational skillsets required of the respective technology areas. Upon completion of the structured training, trainees will be attached to the hosting financial institution for on-the-job training.

Trainees under this programme are not employees of the financial institutions, they will not be covered by the Employment Act and CPF Act.
