Marine & Offshore: CCP for Marine & Offshore Energy Sector
Reskill your competencies to take on new job roles with good longer-term prospects
Accurate as of 06 May 2025
What is it?

Companies in the Marine & Offshore Energy (M&OE) sector have pivoted or diversified into growth areas and adjacencies such as offshore wind and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). Such shifts have changed M&OE jobs and added green elements to existing job scopes, such as carbon management, design and development of hybrid or full electric vessels, integration of systems on vessels, and manufacturing of decarbonising solutions for the greater marine ecosystem.

The Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for Marine & Offshore Energy Sector aims to lower the barriers of entry for incoming mid-career individuals and existing employees to move into new or redesigned roles in the Marine & Offshore Energy sector. The programme supports employers in reskilling these individuals, equipping them with skills, knowledge and competencies required for their new or redesigned role. Besides the traditional M&OE related roles, the CCP also covers functions in offshore renewables and marine decarbonisation. Offshore Wind players, including upstream developers and geotechnical investigators, can also tap the CCP for hiring and workforce development needs.

Managed by the Association of Singapore Marine & Offshore Energy Industries (ASMI), employers looking to retain their local talents can also tap on the programme and funding to reskill them into emerging and higher quality roles.

Therefore, the CCP operates under the following modes:

  1. Place-and-Train (New Hires): Reskill new hires in their new roles to support the business growth.
  2. Job Redesign Reskilling (Existing Staff*): Targeted at companies that are undergoing business transformation to reskill existing staff, where roles will be redesigned/enhanced to remain relevant.

*at least 1 year in employment

Under the CCP for Marine and Offshore Energy Sector, individuals will undergo a structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) in the company. Upon successful completion of the CCP, individuals would be equipped with the necessary competencies and skills to take on new/redesigned job roles within the M&OE sector.
