What is it?

The public transport industry is a key pillar in providing efficient and reliable rail and public bus services across Singapore. According to the Land Transport Industry Transformation Map (ITM), the demand for public transport workers will continue to grow to support the expansion of the public transport network. The Career Conversion Programme (CCP) is a Place-and-Train programme offered by Go Ahead Singapore Pte. Ltd., which aims to equip mid-career individuals with the necessary competencies to embark on a career in the public transport industry for the following roles: -

Bus

Bus Service Controller

Bus Service Controllers ensure regular and reliable operation of bus services in accordance with the Bus Service Reliability Framework (BSRF) Standards and set targets. They manage the Common Fleet Management System (CFMS) at the Operations Control Centre to monitor bus services and liaise with key stakeholders such as Bus Captains.

Bus Technician

Bus Technicians ensure all daily bus maintenance and repairs are performed and adhere strictly to standards established by the company and legal requirements. They perform regular preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and inspections of our bus fleet in the workshop.


Who can apply?

Locals who meet the following criteria may apply for the programme:

  • Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident;
  • Minimum 21 years old;
  • Graduated or completed National Service for at least 2 years prior to the point of application;
  • New job role trained under the CCP should be substantially different from previous job role, hence require reskilling for career switch;
  • Have no colour vision deficiency;
  • Be able to perform rotating shift duty, including weekends and public holidays; and
  • Be able to respond effectively to stressful or unpredictable situations.

 

*CCPs are geared towards helping mid-career individuals acquire skills to change career paths. Hence, career conversion is required when mid-career individuals undergo the CCPs.

However, individuals who have a continuous employment gap of at least 2 years prior to CCP commencement will be allowed to apply for CCP job roles similar to their previous jobs.

How does it work?

Successful candidates will be employed full-time by Go-Ahead Singapore and will undergo structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) lasting between two and three months, depending on the specific job role offered to the candidate. The training will equip candidates with the knowledge and necessary skill sets required to perform their jobs effectively.
