What is it?

Overview of Programme

Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for Retail Professional is offered by Singapore Institute of Retail Studies (SIRS) to support PMETs with necessary competencies to embark on a career in retail operations. It will integrate job matching and training and include classroom and On-the-Job Training (OJT) components. This will facilitate and enhance the employability for those looking to switch their careers to take on jobs in the retail profession.

The 6-month programme comprises a customised structured on-the-job training with facilitated classroom training, to equip new hires with the necessary competencies and skills to take up roles in areas such as retail operations and service innovation.  

New hires will have the opportunity to embark on a career in operations, marketing or supply chain roles.


Who can apply?

To qualify for the Career Conversion Programme for Retail Professional, you will have to meet the following criteria:

 

Individuals

  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident;
  • Be at least 21 years old;
  • Graduated or completed National Service, at least 2 years,  prior at the point of application
  • Be newly hired and nominated by an eligible participating company for the CCP; and
  • Not be in a similar job role prior to joining the CCP.

 

Employers

  • Company has to be registered or incorporated in Singapore;
  • Be committed to work with WSG and its appointed Programme Manager on the necessary administrative matters related to the CCP;
  • Able to offer employment directly related to the job which the CCP is for, with minimum offering salary of $2,500 that is aligned with the market rate; and
  • Able to commit to the CCP training arrangements for the trainees.

How does it work?

Funding Support

The employing company will receive the following funding upon the fulfilment of the corresponding requirements:

1. Course Fee Grant:

Standard Rate

  • Up to 70% of the course fees funding, capped at $7,000

Enhanced Rate

  • Up to 90%* of the course fees funding, capped at $7,000

 

*For SC/PR trainees sponsored by SMEs or mature SC trainees (age ≥40)

Companies have the flexibility to choose up to 8 classroom training modules.

2. Salary Support:

Standard Rate

  • Up to 70% of the trainee’s monthly salary, capped at $4,000 per trainee per month, for the duration of the programme.

Enhanced Rate

  • Up to 90%* of monthly salary, capped at $6,000 per month per trainee per month, for the duration of the programme.

 

*For long term unemployed or mature SC trainees (age ≥40)

Minimum offering salary of $2,500 onwards (Starting salary commensurate with candidate’s experience)
