What is it?

Overview of Programme

Under the Workforce Singapore’s Adapt and Grow initiative, in collaboration with the Jewellery Design and Management International School (JDMIS), the Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) for Jewellery Design & Marketing Professional is developed and rolled out to facilitate mid-career PMETs’ switch into the Jewellery industry.

Through the PCP, participants will receive job-matching support from JDMIS as well as training to equip jobseekers with necessary skills and competencies in jewellery design, marketing and merchandising so that they can embark on a new career in Jewellery sector.

The five-month long PCP comprises of customised structured on-the-job training and 240 hours of facilitated classroom training. Upon completion of the programme, participants will receive the nationally accredited certification under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) framework for Retail (Retail WSQ) and certificate issued by JDMIS.


Who can apply?

To qualify for the Professional Conversion Programme for Jewellery Design & Marketing Professional, you have to meet the following criteria:

Individuals

  • The candidate must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
     
  • For companies hiring new entrants into the sector through PCP, individuals must meet the following criteria :
     
    • No more than three months of employment with the current company
       
    • Have graduated or completed National Service at least 2 years prior at the point of application
       
    • Must not be in a similar job role prior to joining the PCP
       

 Employers

  • The participating company must be registered or incorporated in Singapore;
     
  • The participating company must issue a valid employment contract;
  • Must offer the new hire a PMET job which is different from his previous employment. Conversions can be inter- or intra-sectoral; and
     
  • The participating company must be able to provide structured on-the-job training for the candidate

  1. Course Fee Grant:

For non-Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

  • Full Course Fee: $13,004.40 (excl. GST)
  • 70% Funding: $9,103.08

Nett Fee payable by employers:

$3,901.32 (excl. GST)

 

For Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

  • Full Course Fee: $13,004.40
  • 90% Funding: $11,703.96

Nett Fee payable by employers:

$1,300.44 (excl. GST)

Trainee passes all the required modules.

  1. Salary Support:
  • Up to 70% of the trainee’s monthly salary, capped at $4,000 per trainee per month, for the duration of the programme.
  • Up to 90%* of the trainee’s monthly salary, capped at $6,000 per trainee per month, for the programme duration.

*The trainee must be a Singapore Citizen (SC) either aged 40 and above, or unemployed and has been actively seeking employment for 6 months or more.

 

 

Trainee remains employed in the hiring company for a minimum duration equivalent to the programme duration, after passing all the required modules

No Absentee Payroll (AP) claim is allowed for PCP trainees
