What is it?

The Attach-and-Train (AnT) for Robotics Engineers is a manpower development programme aimed at developing a pipeline of professionals/specialists for Singapore’s Robotics and Automation (R&A) sector ahead of hiring demand.

The AnT for Robotics Engineers combines rigorous classroom training at Robotics Automation Centre of Excellence (RACE) Academy, where individuals will learn core R&A technologies, and on-the-job training attachments at host companies. The classroom and on-the-job training attachments will prepare individuals for roles in the field of R&A, such as Robotics Engineers, Field Application Engineers, Robotics Software Engineers. Participants of the AnT for Robotics Engineers are not employees of the companies but will be provided with training and work attachments in host companies in advance of job placement.

Who can apply?

To qualify for the AnT for Robotics Engineers, you have to meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore PR
  • At least 21 years old
  • Graduated or completed National Service, whichever is later, at least two years prior, at the point of application
  • Not be in a similar job function prior to joining AnT
  • While no prior relevant skills are required, candidates with work experience or academic background in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) would have a gentler learning curve during the programme

All participating companies must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Registered, incorporated and based in Singapore with a UEN registered with ACRA
  • The host company must be able to provide structured OJT training for the participant.

How does it work?

The AnT for Robotics Engineers programme is administered by RACE Academy. Individuals admitted into the AnT for Robotics Engineers will undergo rigorous training comprising of 3 months of facilitated classroom sessions and 3 months of company attachment. Trainees will receive a monthly training allowance of $3,040 ($2,660 from WSG and at least $380 from host company) for the duration of the programme.

The facilitated classroom training at RACE Academy consists of modules in the areas of:

Programming, Design, Robot Arms, Peripheral Technologies & Factory Automation, Essential Mechanical Component Technology, Direct Drive Technology, Warehouse Automation, Integrated Robotics Platforms, Technical Business Modules and Personal Development.
