What is it?

WSG’s Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for Food Professionals and Associates aims to support companies in the food services and food manufacturing (hereinafter referred to as ‘food’) sectors train and reskill existing employees to take on redesigned and enhanced job roles as companies undergo business and/or process transformation, as well as to attract new entrants and facilitate mid-career switchers into the food sectors. Through the programme, our appointed Programme Partners will work with participating companies to customise their training plans, which can comprise a mix of classroom and on-the-job training (OJT) or 100% OJT, depending on the company’s needs.

The CCP for Food Professionals and Associates is part of the holistic support provided to food companies undergoing business and/or process transformation and job redesign. The programme encourages and enables employers to review, optimise and value-add to their PMET and non-PMET jobs such as Data Analyst, Sustainability Specialist, Restaurant Manager, Production Manager, QA QC Manager, R&D Chef, Service Ambassador, Culinary Ambassador, and Production Operator in order to create higher quality jobs to sustain business growth and retain current local employees.

Under the CCP for Food Professionals and Associates, eligible participants will undergo skills conversion. Upon successful completion of the CCP, eligible participants will be equipped with the necessary skills to take on job roles with good career prospect in the food sector.


Who can apply?
Candidates under the programme must fulfil the following criteria:
  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Minimum 21 years old
  • Must not be a shareholder[1] of the company, or its related companies
  • Must not be related to the owner(s)[2] of the company
  • Must not be undergoing any programmes funded by WSG concurrently

 

For New Hires (Mid-Career Switchers)

  • New Hire must have graduated or completed National Service for at least 2 years[3] prior at the point of application
  • New Hire must not be immediate ex-staff of the participating company or its related entities
  • New Hire must not have prior working experience or been in a similar job role[4] in previous employment
  • New Hire who has been out of the labour force or have a continuous employment gap of at least 2 years[5] prior to CCP commencement will be allowed to apply for CCP job roles similar to their previous jobs
  • New Hire must be offered or in a full-time position related to the job role which the CCP is for. The position must have at least a 12-month employment contract
  • New Hire’s training commencement should be within the first three months of employment

 

For Existing Employees

  • Existing Employee must be employed by the company for more than 1 year at the point of application
  • Existing Employee have not been enrolled for the same / similar programme[6] before

 

[1] Does not apply to shareholders who hold publicly traded shares in listed companies

[2] Refers to individuals with shareholding per ACRA profile for non-publicly listed companies

[3] Counted from the date of graduation from the latest qualification, or date of completion of National Service, whichever is later

[4] Was from a different occupation in the F&B industry or same occupation but from a different sector

[5] The 2-year employment gap must be continuous and will exclude National Service during that period

All participating companies must fulfil the following criteria:
  • Registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Committed to work with WSG or its appointed partner on the necessary administrative matters related to the programme

Duration of Programme

New Hires (Mid-Career Switchers)

  • PMET: 6 months of structured on-the-job training (OJT)
  • Non-PMET: 3 months of structured on-the-job training (OJT)

Existing Employees

  • PMET: 3 months of structured on-the-job training (OJT)
  • Non-PMET: 3 months of structured on-the-job training (OJT)

OJT and classroom training plan (if any) have to be validated and endorsed by appointed Programme Partners before the commencement of Career Conversion Programme Training.

 

Salary support for the duration of training will be provided to employers at the following rates upon fulfilment of the corresponding requirements:

Up to 70% of monthly salary capped at $4,000 per month

Up to 90% of monthly salary capped at $6,000 per month  

Minimum fixed monthly salary of $2,900 (PMET) onwards (starting salary commensurate with candidate’s experience)
non-PMET Minimum fixed monthly salary of $2,000 (non-PMET) onwards (starting salary commensurate with candidate’s experience)
*No Absentee Payroll (AP) claim is allowed for CCP trainees
