What is it?

The Auxiliary Police Forces (APFs), in close partnership with Ministry of Home Affairs and Singapore Police Force, plays a critical role to safeguard key installations, support major events and conduct screening and checks at immigrations and checkpoints.

Auxiliary Police Officers (Armed) perform guard and patrol operations, conduct checks and security enforcement, as well as provide armed response to threats.

Who can apply?

The PCP candidate should:

  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Graduated or completed NS at least 2 years prior at the point of application
  • Not in a similar job role prior to joining the PCP

PCP-specific pre-requisites:

  • At least 3 GCE ‘N’ Level credits and above qualifications
  • Meets course entry requirements for Higher Certificate in Armed Security Operations i.e. WPLN Level 3 and above
  • Be physical and medically fit to pass Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT)
  • Possess normal colour vision
  • Able to perform rotating shift duty, including weekends and public holidays
  • Able to handle firearms

 Applications will be reviewed by employers, and shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews with the employer(s).

How does it work?

Selected candidates will undergo three to four months training programme, comprising full-time resident training at approved training academy for the APO course, as well as in-house training with employers.

Upon completion of the training, candidate will receive a Higher Certificate in Armed Security Operations at the end of the programme.

Candidate will also receive their Auxiliary Police Officer warrant card, subject to approval by the Singapore Police Force
