What is it?

Note: This is a Train-and-Place programme.

Technology advancement and innovation in research and development is giving rise to medicines that are increasingly complex including small molecule Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), biologics drugs substances and cell and gene therapy products. This meant that advanced methods and processes are required to manufacture these therapeutic compounds. As Singapore continues to attract the world’s top Biopharmaceuticals companies to locate their manufacturing plants here, locals will be needed to be equipped with the latest skillsets to take on these jobs.

The Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for Advanced Biopharmaceuticals Manufacturing is a talent development programme aimed at building the next generation of skilled manpower for Singapore’s Biopharmaceuticals manufacturing industry in anticipation of hiring demand. Participants of the programme are not employees of the companies but will be provided with training and work attachments in top Biopharmaceuticals manufacturing companies in advance of job placement.

As new entrants, trainees will be equipped with necessary competencies to embark on a career in the Biopharmaceuticals manufacturing industry. Acquisition of skills is done through a combination of facilitated classroom training and structured on-the-job training for trainees to take on manufacturing related job roles within the industry.


Who can apply?

To qualify for the CCP for Advanced Biopharmaceuticals Manufacturing, you have to meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore PR
  • At least 21 years old
  • Graduated or completed National Service, whichever is later, at least two years prior, at the point of application  
  • Possess at least an Engineering/ Science related NITEC/ Higher NITEC/ Diploma/ Degree
  • Not in a similar job function prior to joining CCP

18 months, comprising of 3 months facilitated classroom training at Temasek Polytechnic, followed by 15 months structured on-the-job training at the company

The CCP for Advanced Biopharmaceuticals Manufacturing consists of 3 months of facilitated classroom training conducted at Temasek Polytechnic. After completion of facilitated classroom training, trainees will embark on 15 months of structured On-The-Job (OJT) training with top Biopharmaceuticals manufacturing companies to facilitate the application of learning and to ensure that trainees acquire necessary competencies.

Applications received would be forwarded to participating employers for shortlisting. Shortlisted candidates have to go through the participating employer’s interview and selection process and be offered a training position by a participating company before embarking on the programme.
