As more companies under the Sea Transport sector continue to digitalise and transform, new jobs are created and cross-disciplinary skills in areas such as data analytics, automation and robotics, and sustainability are required to meet the changing demands of the maritime workforce.
The Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for Sea Transport Professionals and Associates is targeted at mid-career switchers to undergo skills conversion and take on new roles in the area of Port Operations and Services, Shipping, and Maritime Services with good career prospects.
Administered by the Singapore Polytechnic (SP), the CCP operates under 3 modes:
- Place-and-Train: Reskill new hires in their new roles to support the business growth.
- Redeployment: Reskill existing employees who are at risk of redundancy with relevant skillsets and redeploy them to a different job role within the same company to continue to support the business operations.
- Job Redesign (JR) Reskilling: Reskill existing employees whose jobs roles are being redesigned due to business transformation. Reskilled employees would be able to take on higher value-added job tasks or an enhanced job scope and support the company in pivoting to new growth areas.
Under the CCP for Sea Transport Professionals and Associates, participants will undergo a structured programme comprising of facilitated classroom training at SP and On-the-Job Training (OJT) at the company. Upon successful completion of the CCP, participants will be equipped with the necessary competencies and skills to take on job roles within the Sea Transport sector.
